You know when you come home from a long day of work and you are just craving something? I have been craving ice cream almost every day, but haven’t wanted to fill myself up on all of the cream and unnatural sugars that come with it. So, I went on the search to see if there was something that I could make at home that mimicked the taste and texture of ice cream, but had more of a health factor.
And then it hit me: NICECREAM. It is an “ice cream” substitute made out of frozen bananas, and can be customized to fit whatever you are craving at the time. This recipe has cardmom, nutmeg and cinnamon to transition your taste buds into the winter season. Read on to see how I made this delicious recipe, with just 5 simple ingredients.
Nicecream is one of the biggest trends in the health food industry. On simple terms, it is purreed frozen bananas, with additional ingredients added for flavor. You can put almost anything in it: add some cocoa powder for all your chocoholic friends, and some berries or fruit juice for a fresh component. This recipe is perfect because you get the satisfaction of ice cream without all of the dairy, sugar and fat.
2 frozen bananas- TIP: peel and cut them before putting them in the freezer
1 TBSP of nut/seed butter (I used creamy peanut butter, but whatever you have works)
1/4 TSP of cinnamon
1/8 TSP of cardamom, nutmeg, ground ginger and ground cloves
Here’s how you do it:
Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth!
