Going back to school is one of the most stressful times of the year, but also one of the most exciting. Many people, me included, consider this more of the start of the year than New Years. It is also the perfect time to refresh your wardrobe and bring in pieces to follow the new fall fashion trends. And what are those trends, you may ask? Don’t worry- I GOTCHU! Here are some super easy ways to incorporate the innovative fall fashion trends into your back to school wardrobe.

1. Feminism

Now, don’t start yelling at me, I’m not saying the idea of feminism is a trend. I’m saying that feminism as it comes to dressing is a new trend that has come up this year. All of the fall 2017 runway shows incorporated this ideal, whether it was subtle, like including the color pink, or less subtle, with t-shirts that say the word right on them. Grab one of those graphic tee’s that are super women empowering and style it which ever way you like!

2. Plaid

Plaid is always a fall fashion staple (hello, flannels!), but this season we have been seeing it everywhere. From shoes to handbags to dresses and more, try incorporating this wintery pattern in a fresh new way. A great way to incorporate it without fully committing is through accessories. Try a plaid belt, or maybe even a pair of plaid sneakers. And, if your still not feeling it, throw on a plaid flannel and call it a day! Perfect lazy Monday school outfit.

3. Suiting

This trend is something that is a little bit harder to incorporate into your school wardrobe BUT I have a super easy solution! The best way is to find items in a plaid/checkered suit pattern. There are some really cute skirts in that pattern that are super easy to dress down; just pair them with a tee and some sneakers and you are good to go! If plaid/ checkers aren’t your cup of tea, look for items in a monochromatic color scheme. Even though you might not be wearing a full on pant suit to class, you will still be capturing the essence of the trend.

4. The Color Red

Usually the beginning of fall comes with a switch to dark muted color schemes- not this year! Red is the hottest color for fall and one of the easiest trends to bring into your wardrobe. Don’t be afraid of this bold hue, it is actually super flattering on every body type, and gives you a huge confident boost when you wear it. Try layering a deep red cardigan over your favorite outfit to try out this color trend. Extra style points if you can bring more than 1 red item into your outfit.

5. Corduroy

Corduroy is back and better than ever! Don’t think of the unattractive corduroy pants you wore as a kid, this fabric is now being used for everything. Try out a corduroy skirt with a striped top for major 70s vibes. Or try a corduroy top or backpack for a more unconventional take on this fall fashion trend!

Which of these fall fashion trends are you most excited to try out?
