Happy #trendtuesdays everyone! I feel like I haven’t properly talked to you in any of my posts lately. But it is only the second week of the semester and I am already completely tired of school. Anyone else with me? Since my week has been full of writing papers, reading textbooks and preparing projects, I thought a DIY project was the exact thing I needed to take me out of the school slump.
One of the biggest trends that has carried over from the summer is distressed band tees. The vintage look has been coming back into fashion these past few years, with thrift stores and flea markets gaining popularity amongst fashionistas worldwide. Everyone from high class designers to fast fashion retailers have been producing imitation band tees in a wide range of price tags with distressing upping the price tag even more.
You all know that I never want to pay full price for anything, especially a trend that I can make myself with an old tee shirt and some scissors, so I set myself out on the task to re-create this trend for under $5. I accomplished it, and even better, I only spend $3. Most of all, this super inexpensive trend is the easiest DIY project to do and makes any outfit look instantly chic. Check out the video below for an in depth tutorial on how to get the look yourself 🙂
The best thing about these band tees is that they are the perfect layering piece. Pair it with some jeans and sneakers for a casual grunge vibe, but spice it up with some heels and a leather jacket for the perfect night out look. I personally think pairing them with faux leather pants, like these from Missguided, and some high heels keeps with the 90s look perfectly.
