I’ve been 20 for almost two months now, and I decided to do some reminiscing and see what I’ve done in my life so far. Some are more serious, some are just fun, but all of these are lessons I have learned by my 20th birthday. This birthday was a big one for me, and I am so grateful for everything that has happened in the past 20 years that I’ve been on this earth. No, my life is not perfect. No, I am not the happiest I’ve ever been. But, I’m here, and I am working on being the truest, happiest and best version of myself that I can be. I am a big supporter of reflecting on your life and celebrating what you’ve accomplished. It’s easy to forget what goals we’ve accomplished when we are always thinking about the next big thing, so I decided to round up 20 things I’ve accomplished to remind myself of what I’ve done right and what I’ve gotten through.
I challenge YOU to come up with one of these lists! Writing down all the amazing things that have happened in the past year created a huge sense of gratitude in me. Always be thankful no matter what life throws at you. You never know where it is going to take you 🙂
20 lessons I have learned-
- Always dance
- Life is more than just work
- Things always get done
- Everything is not as serious as it seems
- Write everything down
- You will feel 10 times better if you put on mascara and real pants
- The best is not always the best for you
- Build the life you want to live
- Only you can make yourself healthy
- Watching the next episode is not always the best idea
- Animals make everything better
- Everything, and I mean everything, happens for a reason
- Most things can be fixed with a glass of wine & a chocolate chip cookie
- Don’t suppress what makes you YOU
- Socialization is important, it isn’t bad to want to have fun
- Take advantage of this time in your life, for it will not come again
- It will happen if you just GET TO WORK
- You never know what life’s going to turn into
- Embrace the unknown, that is what makes it fun
- You always have the room and time to learn something
20 Things I Accomplished- here’s where I get on my soap box and talk about what I’ve accomplished these past 20 years. It’s important not just to learn from, but to also celebrate our experiences. Some are a little silly, some are super meaningful, but all are things I am so proud I’ve been able to do.
- I created my blog
- I got my drivers license
- I had knee surgery and returned to dance
- I won a metropolitan high school theater award, something I would’ve never thought I would do
- I bought Louboutin heels and wore them to my graduation even thought I could barely walk in them
- I graduated from high school
- I got into the best fashion school in the country
- I went to Paris
- I worked with my dream brand, Primark
- I had an internship at a magazine in NYC
- I created an even closer bond with my family
- I went to a major NYFW show (thanks Nicole)
- I studied abroad in Florence & London
- I worked abroad at one of the top publications in London
- I graduated from FIT with an associates degree in Fashion Business Management
- I held onto friendships that matter to me
- I moved into my first NYC apartment
- I adopted an adorable cat with my roommates
- I started taking tap dance classes at Broadway Dance Center
- I rung in my 20th birthday at my favorite place in the world
