Maxi dresses have been a huge summer trend since about 2 or 3 years ago, but now they are dying down. The maxi dress has become an integral part of a woman’s wardrobe, but you no longer see someone raving about it because of how normal it has become.

I remember walking into stores and saying “I want a maxi dress” and nothing else. It was something new, something that showed you were hip or cool, but now they have lost their spark

I love finding new maxi dresses that are interesting, not the run of the mill casual plain colored, forever 21 basics section one. This one, for example, is striped on the bottom, but the bodice is lace. I think that mixing patterns is especially appealing on maxi dresses.

I also love maxi dresses with a low or different type of back. The one I have on has straps that criss cross in the back. I think that adding that keeps the maxi looking fresh and not too “3 years ago”.
