In honor of today being International Women’s Day, I decided to get some things off my chest.

When I started blogging I was so excited to start connecting with other bloggers, influencers and women entrepreneurs. I came to New York City with the intent to make more blogger friends, but many of the bloggers that I have met at various events, have only been focused on themselves.

This is one of the biggest industries that has a large percentage of females, and yet we are the worst example of women empowerment. Sure, there are many bloggers that support women and support each other, but the majority of this industry is only thinking about how they themselves can get ahead. Looking at each other like competition when we should be proud of the work that other women are doing.

We are trained to compare ourselves to other bloggers. Compare our follower count, like count, the brands we work with, the filters we use. When other bloggers have a big campaign, we wonder why it isn’t us working with those brands. When we see one blogger gaining followers and recognition, we wonder why it isn’t us with the growing followers. This just makes us disappointed in ourselves, foster hatred & jealousy towards other bloggers and creates a circle of negativity.

We all talk about feminism and women empowerment, and yet we don’t follow through. If all of us in this industry banded together instead of trying to claw our way to the top, we would make an immense dent into the challenges that we women face.

Caroline Vreeland and Shea Marie are perfect examples of how working together really does get you far. They created a bond and cross-motivate each other, and they are the 2 biggest influencers out there! My blogger friends, you know who you are, are some of the sweetest girls out there. We support each other and applaud our successes. Why can’t all of us be like that?

Instead of fighting hard to get ahead of each other or having fake relationships that foster competition, we should be working together. We are stronger when we work together. We will get farther if we work together. We will be happier if we work together.

This is my call to all other bloggers, and all other women, reading this; let’s make a conscious effort to support each other. To be proud of each other when we succeed. To lift each other up when we are down. And to be the examples of change that we believe we can be.

To all my Girl Boss Babes out there- Happy International Women’s Day

xoxo Gabriela
