Saying goodbye to summer is one of the hardest goodbye’s, but the good thing about it is that you know you will see it next year. The reason it is so hard for me personally is because I don’t know what to wear anymore. It is like over the couple of months that it has been summer my brain has forgotten what fall/winter clothes are. Here in New York it may still feel like summer, but the cold weather is just around the corner. I am here to share with you how I transitioned my wardrobe into fall using some pieces that I already had and was wearing throughout the summertime.

#1: A plain t-shirt

One of the pieces that i think is crucial to every girl’s wardrobe is a well fitting t-shirt. I usually buy mine from Forever 21 and especially Marshalls because, to be honest, they are the most comfortable and soft things ever. They also are not too oversized or too baggy, which is what tends to be the case when I am buying t-shirts. For the fall I usually pair mine half tucked into jeans with wedged booties, a blazer and a hat. I also love pairing them with statement necklaces, like this one from topshop.

#2: A good pair of black pants

I think one of the ways that people start to get into the fall spirit is by the colors that we associate with it. Maroon, mustard, brown and black are just some of the colors that we naturally associate with the fall season. Change up your wardrobe by buying some black jeans instead of the boring old light wash jeans. If you are feeling daring, try to find a pair with some rips. And if you really want to take it over the edge, try them in a boyfriend style to add a baggy, cool vibe to your look. I pair mine with a lace-up tank top, a studded necklace, and some cut-out booties for an edgy vibe.

#3: A Well Fitting Jacket

This is kind of a given for year round, but I think it is especially important for the fall time. You know those days when it feels like negative 2 in the morning, but by around 2:30 or 3 it feels like 200 degrees? Yea, here in New York we are experiencing that big time, right now. What I like to do is wear something slightly summery, like a romper with knee high socks and booties, but pair it with a leather jacket for the colder moments in the day. This is my favorite jacket at the moment, which I got from Michael Kors 🙂

#4: Leather or Suede Boots

Wether you prefer them in black, brown or tan or ankle, knee or over the knee length, boots are part of every girl’s fall wardrobe. I love my light brown thigh-high boots that I have by the brand Frye. I think having them over the knee adds a little bit of sassiness to your outfit and is perfect to wear with skinny jeans and a t-shirt. You can find some really great boots at marshalls right now, in my local store there is a pair of Sam Edelman black over-the-knee boots for about half the original price!

#5: A Wool Hat

I love hats in general and that is why is it my last fall staple for all of you guys. A hat can be added to any outfit to make it more trendy. Recently I have been finding wool hats everywhere, I got this one from PacSun, but I have also seen them at Forever 21, Brandy Melville, Target, Nordstroms, you name it! Just try it out, you won’t regret it…

What are some of your favorite pieces for the fall? Keep checking back for more fall themed posts every tuesday, thursday and sunday 🙂

xoxo Gabriela
